Itinerary
Day 1
Arrival in Reykjavík

Arrive in Reykjavik and settle into your hotel. Take a walk around the city center – visit Hallgrímskirkja church and the Harpa concert hall. Relax with dinner at a local restaurant. Optional visit to Sky Lagoon in the evening.

 

Day 2
Golden Circle Adventure

Set out on the famous Golden Circle route. Visit Þingvellir National Park, where you can stand between two tectonic plates. Continue to the powerful Gullfoss waterfall and the erupting Strokkur geyser at the Geysir geothermal area. Return to Reykjavík for dinner and maybe another shot at seeing the northern lights.

Day 3
South Coast Wonders

Take a day trip along Iceland’s dramatic south coast. Stop at the majestic Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls, walk along the haunting black sands of Reynisfjara beach, and see views of the famous Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Watch the ocean crash against basalt cliffs before heading back to the capital.

Day 4
Volcanoes & Lava Fields

Head to the Reykjanes Peninsula, a geothermal hotspot filled with volcanic craters and steaming vents. Visit the Fagradalsfjall volcano site—where recent eruptions have reshaped the land—and walk across fresh lava fields. End the day with a relaxing soak in the Blue Lagoon, surrounded by steaming blue water and black lava rock.

Day 5
Eastern Fjords Adventure

Continue through the scenic and remote Eastern Fjords. Stop at charming fishing villages like Djúpivogur. Enjoy mountain and ocean views. Overnight in Egilsstaðir or Seyðisfjörður.

Day 6
Dettifoss and Lake Mývatn

Visit Dettifoss, Europe’s most powerful waterfall. Explore the volcanic landscapes around Lake Mývatn – see mud pools, lava fields, and pseudocraters. Soak in the Mývatn Nature Baths. Overnight near Húsavík or Akureyri.

Day 7
Whale Watching and Akureyri

Go on a whale-watching tour from Húsavík (weather permitting). Later, explore the city of Akureyri – Iceland’s "Capital of the North." Visit botanical gardens and the church. Overnight in Akureyri.

Day 8
Back to Reykjavik via Hraunfossar

Drive back to Reykjavik through the scenic west. Stop at Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Optional visit to Krauma geothermal spa. Arrive in Reykjavik and relax.

Day 9
Reykjanes Peninsula and Blue Lagoon

Explore the Reykjanes Peninsula – see bubbling geothermal fields and dramatic coastline. Enjoy a relaxing soak at the famous Blue Lagoon. Return to Reykjavik for a final Icelandic dinner.

Day 10
Departure

Depending on flight time, enjoy a walk or breakfast in Reykjavik. Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
